About Me

Raised by my mom and grandpa in rural Illinois, I'm a high school teacher turned WAHM, teaching research writing with a Masters degree in Poli Sci, for an online university. My fifteen minutes of fame consists of a crown gathering dust in my basement. I am as eclectic as they come - in my interests, my friends, and my life. My love for animals, politics, photography, desserts, reading, and my family, combined with a Type-A personality, make me a force to be reckoned with.

Luckily, despite my many quirks, I met the love of my life in a college history class and married him on Valentine's Day 2004. We threw away the birth control in September 2004 and saw two pink lines for the first time in February 2005. The pregnancy was an ectopic - costing me both fallopian tubes and rendering me infertile.

I began blogging in April 2006, before my first IVF cycle. For two years, I ranted and raved on the original Sticky Feet blog about the trials and tribulations of IVF treatments and my struggle to become a mother. In November 2007, our dreams came true with the birth of our little guy, Bo. Sticky Feet (Part Deux) was born soon after.

While I still drone on about infertility, IVF #6 resulted in a twin pregnancy and the birth of our twin daughters, Clara and Anna, in September of 2009. Their birth brought me full-circle from an infertile who feared that she would never have children, to a Mommy who has her hands full.

Blogging is my hobby of choice and I write about numerous topics to encompass many of my passions. I enjoy sharing my experiences with others in the blogosphere - whether it is helping them with infertility or sharing ideas for what to buy our little ones, I can always find a friend or ally in the blogosphere.

I hope you'll find something that interests you here and join me as I battle myself through this roller coaster we call life.

Thanks for following me, as well as for your congrats with my recent FET success! I wish you all the best with your own fertili-hell escapades! IVF: such a bitch, but, man, when it works, such a miracle. Good luck!!!

Oh, I remember the shock of twins -- we had two older kids. Visit my blog for helpful info about juggling and birthing and breastfeeding two! Congrats! And maybe we can do a One Hot Mama giveaway for you guys someday! :)

Hi Jamie,
I found your blog while looking for Signing Time!. I loved reading about you. I, too, endured many IVF cycles and an ectopic pregnancy. Unfortunately I was unable to stay pregnant very long, but we are blessed with 5 children through adoption. We got them all at birth and their ages range from 10 to 2yrs old. I know what you mean about having your hands full. It will be crazy at times and you'll wonder if this is really what you wanted. I also gave up being a teacher to be a SAHM. I thought it would be so much easier than being at school all day. I was very wrong. :) I have found that I, too, miss adult interaction, but I love being at home. Good Luck to you. We also used Signing Time! with our children and love Baby Signing Time! I'm sure you will too.
