Then I went back and read my New Year's post from last year and realized how little my life has changed from this time last year.
Sure, I could whine about wanting to lose weight, or wanting more time to read books, or my desire to become a runner. But droning on about it here isn't going to make those things happen.
If there is one thing I want to resolve to do in the coming year it is to appreciate what I have. I am lucky and I have more than anyone could ever hope for -- a loving family, a beautiful little boy, a doting husband, a warm and inviting home.
I challenge you, this year, instead of focusing on all of the aspects of your life you'd like to change -- to instead, focus all of the wonderful aspects of your life that you wouldn't change for the world. To focus more on why life is good instead of focusing on what you would like to see change. As I have learned this year, changes occur at their own pace and sometimes there isn't much you can do to spur them forward.
I resolve to live in the present and enjoy today more.

So true!!!! My parents used to have a saying they used every now and then "Dear, dear, bread and beer, if I had a million bucks, I wouldn't be here." I thought about that saying a few weeks ago and thought to myself. I'd still be here. I'd just have more money. But I wouldn't change a thing.
Happy New Year!
The best resolution I EVER made was to live according to my dogs' example... it amounts to your resolution -- living in the present.
May 2009 bring more dreams come true while you appreciate the dreams that have already become your reality.
good for you.
