Random Life Update

It came to my attention recently that I haven't updated you on my normal, typical, and random life musings lately. So here you go... Enjoy!

Bo

Bo is doing great! He is really and truly walking now. He walks everywhere and doesn't crawl hardly at all anymore. It's amazing how quickly he went from barely walking to really walking! He is definitely a toddler now.

There are times when I think he says other words, but I'm still not sure. I did get him to say "go" last night, but I don't think he understands what it means. Sometimes I swear he says "shoes", "socks", "cat", etc. but I can't be sure. "Car" is the only real word so far. And he definitely knows what a car is and takes every opportunity to let me know about it. There is definitely a lot of babbling going on so I think he are on our way to true communication.

His favorite thing to do is read. He'll sit on my lap forever as long as I am reading to him. He loves so many of the new toys he received for Christmas and it is amazing to see him interact and the pretend play that he comes up with.

He is definitely a fan of routine. My mom came to pick him up this morning and they didn't leave for her house at the same time we normally leave and he was not thrilled. Maybe I've been too strict with the routine, but he is so much happier when everything goes as planned. (And so I am, so he comes by that naturally!)

He is going through a pretty clingy phase too, which makes doing things like cooking dinner or getting anything done around the house pretty difficult when I'm home on my own.

Work
I am still teaching online and most days I like it. I did decided to stick with only one school for the time being and that has saved my sanity. Between Bo, IVF, and a few classes, I have more than enough to deal with. The week of my IVF retrieval and transfer my classes overlap, so I'll have 4 classes going that week. I'm not looking forward to that at all!

Mike is still in Champaign and makes the 2 hour commute (each way) unless the weather is really bad. Last night he hit a deer, so we're down to one car for awhile. Joyous. I really don't care about the car though -- I'm just glad he's okay. I know that it could be much worse and if something happened to him while he was driving I would never forgive myself.

Mike really likes working in Champaign, which is definitely a positive. But we are both ready for the end of February to come so we know if this has the potential to be a permanent move.

IVF

I have been taking my Lupron every evening and I start the Bravelle and Menopur tomorrow morning. I am having a hard time remembering to take my shots and one night even had to get out of bed when I suddenly remembered before falling asleep. I'm definitely not as "into" this cycle as I with all of the cycles to create Bo. I know it can work. I know that lots of times it doesn't. So I'm trying hard to go with the flow. (Bet you never thought I would type that, did you?). I go for my first check next Wednesday and the plan is retrieval around the 19th. I'm sure it will start to feel more real as retrieval approaches.

Other Random Me Stuff
I am trying to lose weight, but the scale isn't moving. I'm blaming the hormones. I've been trying to eat better (hum, but I just made brownies...) and I have been exercising at least 3 days a week, so those are positive, even if the scale isn't moving right now. If this IVF doesn't work, I'm going to start a running program. That should be interesting.... :)

My hair is driving me crazy -- but I can't seem to decide if I want to cut it or let it grow out. If you have an opinion, please share! Right now it just looks like crud!

There you have it -- a totally random life update. :)

I'm thinking about starting a weekly "questions" post. If you have any questions that you would like to have answered, send me an email or write them in a comment on this post. Also, if there is a specific topic you would like to read about, let me know. Anything is fair game.

If you like this post, share it!

I have a question for a future post!

What made you decide to resume IVF now rather than when Bo is a bit older?

I'm not second-guessing your decisions, but rather gathering intel for my future.

Good luck balancing the IVF with 4 classes and everything else!

Thanks for the update! Glad all is going well. I'm so glad your husband is OK too. I was in a deer accident about 2 1/2 years ago and it was very scary. Forty stitches by a plastic surgeon on my face. I'm so grateful for that doc. It healed very nicely and other than the small bald patch on my eyebrow, most people don't notice. I can't feel half my forehead though and I'm aware of that daily.

Good luck on the upcoming IVF cycle. Don't worry about the weight thing. As long as you are eating well, splurging in moderation and exercising, that's the best you can do. And on hair. I say grow it and you can always play with color to perk it up.

Hi Jamie,
I finally came out of blog hiding and I am so happy to see pictures of your gorgeous family. Bo is so adorable, I might have to introduce him to Olivia some day! I wish you all the best on your IVF cycle. We did a second cycle this past November so I know exactly how you are feeling.
As for the running, I started this past April and I love it - the baby weight just melted off once I started logging some long slow runs. I have never been an athlete or runner so if I can do it, you can too!

I agree with the last commenter, grow it. You have really pretty hair that would look great long and a nice shape of face for it :)

enjoyed the update! it's so much fun when babies become toddlers...while i'm enjoying my little one's newborn stage (though i could go without the night wakings, really), i can't wait until he's talking and running like my big boy!

hair...i went through this right after thanksgiving and chopped mine off, and love it. especially now that noah's in the grabby stage, he can't reach it most of the time.

good luck with the IVF cycle!! have a wonderful friday. :)

Thanks for the update!

I bet Bo is saying real words but they are hard to understand. Having SB around has really helped me know what to expect with LG and I am a lot more aware of he is saying than I was with her at the same age.

I hope this cycle works out for you, I am crossing my fingers for you.

So sorry about the accident, that stinks. I am still stuck on the length of the commute. Yikes!

Good luck with your cycle!
