They Say It's My Birthday...

Today, I am 28 years old. Wowza.

When I look back at how our lives have changed since this time last year, I can't help but be a little shocked.

Last year, Bo crawled for the first time on my birthday. Now, he runs all over the place, climbs the stairs, and has grown and changed so much.

And seriously, pregnant with twins?!? Who would have thought?? By my next birthday, I definitely want to be significantly thinner than I am right now. Luckily, I think that will be doable. :)

I have no doubt that this year, my 28th year, will be one of the most difficult and stressful of my life. I also have no doubt, that it will be also be the year when I will have the most to be thankful. In contrast to my many negative posts over the last week, I give you my list of things that I am thankful for, as I turn 28.

1. My Family. I'm thankful for my mom, my in-laws, and all of our extended family that help make the world go round. We're lucky.

2. Mike. He's a great husband. And while everything going on in our lives right now is stressful, he keeps me sane.

3. Bo

Need I say more?

4. The twins and the fact that they are still safe and secure in my expanding body. I'm thankful I have a doctor who is educated enough to check me and to help me prevent these babies from being born to early. I'm thankful for the chance to have healthy, happy babies.

5. My friends - all of my "real-life" friends who are always there for me when I need them most. They offer to help, they talk me off the ledge, and make sure that I'm okay. And all of my "bloggy" friends who do all of those same things -- I'm so grateful to have all of you in my life.

6. I'm thankful that we have (two) nice homes. Our current home and the house we will close on the 24th. We're lucky that we're able to make two homes work for awhile and to be able to have a decent place to rest our heads at the end of the day. (Anyone want to buy a house??) ;)

7. I'm thankful that while I do worry a lot -- most of my worries aren't that critical. We don't have to worry about putting food on the table or how we are going to pay our bills.

8. I am thankful that I have a job that allows me to continue my career but allows me so much freedom and flexibility.

9. I am thankful for the last 27 years. I'm thankful for all of the opportunities I've had, the people I've encountered, and the life that I've been able to lead. Looking back, it's all been pretty good.

10. I am very thankful to whomever invented Scope whitening toothpaste (nothing tastes better) and York Peppermint Patties. I can promise that these girls wouldn't be as big as they are if they weren't made of about half peppermint patty. (Bo was part peppermint patty too and he turned out pretty cute...)

***** We have decided to only worry and plan for what is going to happen until Tuesday. We still have some details to iron out, but we're getting there. We will re-evaluate the situation after Tuesday and see where we are. My hope is that the medicine will be working and I will be able to at least take care of Bo. This all is a wake-up call for me and I know I can't do as much as I have been doing -- I do have to slow down. But if I can at least take care of Bo, at least for now, that would make me happy. So for now, we are just aiming for Tuesday, and then we will re-evaluate. Thank you all so much for all of your kind thoughts, suggestions, advice, etc. I've read all of it and I am considering many of the things you mention. I know how important it is to keep these little girls inside of me as long as I can.

Happy Birthday!

I had a couple of wake-up calls throughout my pregnancy with the twins, but with many medications and resting as much as possible I was able to surprise my doctor and myself and make it to 37 weeks 5 days. Appointment, by appointment, is all you can do.

Happy birthday Jamie!

I hope that the next year is great, and that the next week brings only good news.

Happy birthday! And I agree with Carrie-take it one appointment at a time. Easier said than done, I know.

I am crossing my fingers for peace of mind for you and a great appointment on Tuesday.

Happy Birthday.

Wow - you've had a quite an eventful few days (or should that be few months!). I think your approach is perfect. Just plan for what you what you know is happening now and then reevaluate at each milestone. Trying to do anything else will just exhaust you and likely be counterproductive as, no doubt, there will be twists and turns ahead, hopefully for the better but you just can't tell. I hope your Mom's operation goes off without a hitch and you get the news you are looking for at your appointment on Tuesday. For today though, try not to think of it all and just enjoy being 28 and surrounded by all of those things you are thankful for. It's a great list.

Take care of you and your girls and Bo and let everyone take care of themselves and you!

Happy Birthday! And, not to make you feel older (although, you are still so young!, this upcoming year is your 29th year. You've completed 28 years. I'm sure your 29th will be fabulous.
