Baldy

Many people have given me grief about wanting to purchase Bo a play kitchen for his birthday. Like somehow being in the kitchen and knowing how to cook isn't manly. I have to say that I totally disagree. A man who can cook is a sexy man indeed!

Many of you have probably heard of the show, Top Chef. It's been my obsession for the last few years and I have to admit that I am quite attracted to Chef Tom Collichio. (Love the new Diet Coke commercial!)

What a hot bald guy!! In truth, I know it's his personality and his eyes -- not the lack of hair that attract me to him -- plus he can cook. But seriously, he pulls off the baldness well, doesn't he? :) Granted, I think the female host on the show, Padma Lakshmi, is very hot. And if I was attracted to a woman, she'd definitely be my type...

I know that many guys freak out about losing their hair but I seriously find baldness attractive.
I know several bald men, and most of them are cute or endearing in their own way. I don't think being bald ages most men and for some, it even makes them look younger. Mike's best friend, Owen, is a great example. Owen has been rockin' the bald scene for as long as I've known him. And he's quite the cutie. :) Even older bald men, like the yearbook rep I worked with, are able to pull off the bald look with style.

Okay, I'll admit it -- I have a thing for bald men. I think it is genetic. My grandpa was bald and my mom fell in love with my father -- who had to be the most unattractive bald man I've ever met...

I find baldness to be cute -- sometimes even sexy -- so when Mike broke the news to me early in our relationship that he would eventually be joining the ranks of millions of other men and going the bald route I wasn't disturbed in the slightest.

Needless to say, I've been talking with Mike about testing out the bald look after the twins are born. For some reason, I feel like he should have hair for their newborn pictures, but after that, all bets are off. I'm curious to see what he would look like as a baldy. Heaven knows he has the eyes, personality, and attitude to pull it off. :)

What are your thoughts? Are you attracted to bald men? Do you think my hubby will make a cute baldy?

M's a baldy, from back before it was cool. I cried the first time he shaved his head. He grew it back earlier this year and I thought he looked strange.

Mike should only go bald if he wants to and is ready. It takes a lot of maintenance to keep it up and keep the ingrown hairs away too. His head looks symmetrical, so he will probably look good bald.

Mmmm... Patrick Stewart (Geek bald love).

I think Mike could pull it off as he has good dimples like Collichio!

This is so funny!! My husband had very short hair with a balding spot right on top when I met him in 2000 and until 2006. After seeing Chris Daughtry (another hot bald guy!) on American Idol, I kept suggesting that my DH should go bald, too! I didn't think he would do it until he walked downstairs with no hair!!! The one thing I would suggest is to shave it in the winter - the tan line looks pretty funny when done in the summer! Now, I can't imagine him with hair and love his bald look!!

Use photoshop to remove his hair and test it out!! And then show pictures!!

Oh and I got a kitchen set for my kids at Christmas but knew my 2 year old son would love it even more than the 5 and 7 year old sisters...and he DOES!! Kids love putting things in and out of cupboards and they don't care what the gender rolls are. Our girls would make me meals and our son would constantly move the dishes around to new shelves. And now he makes and delivers gourmet meals too!! Bo will love it :)

Ha! Hilarious that I happened to read your "baldy" blog today! I don't know if I'll mention it to Owen ... he might get a big head! :) I have to say it's weird at first (he shaved his head in college, and I was like oh, no), but now I can't imagine him any other way. I'm all for it!!!

I wouldn't say I'm necessarily attracted to baldness, but I do not find it unattractive at all. I've never thought a guy ugly just because he was bald, though the thought of ingrown hairs on a bald scalp did disturb me a bit.

Mike is hot. He could totally pull it off.

But you can call me Miss... said...

I can dig it ;)

My nephew played with his play food and kitchen constantly from around 2-4 yrs! And my dh is a chef and its great! My own cooking skills are terrible, since I just let him do it.

I have to agree...baldness is sexy! I do think your hubby would look nice. He has a nice jawline and chin, which would be a good compliment to it. My husband's hair is thinning, too, but I'm not sure if he will ever work up the guts to go completely bald! ~Becca L

I bought my son a play kitchen for his first birthday. He seems okay so far... :)

The pinnacle of bald hotness for me is the guy who played the mummy in the movie The Mummy. Yummy.

My Jon is bald, has been for 10 years now. Well, he shaves it. I like it that way, I feel like he looks odd in pictures from our past when he had hair!
I do think Mike could pull it off. Be warned, though, at first it ill be glaring white! He'll grow into ti though, a trip to the tanning bad once or twice will take care of it quickly!

Not that a kitchen is not manly--but I think Bo needs a Fisher Price work bench for his birthday http://www.amazon.com/Step2-762700-Real-Projects-Workshop/dp/B000FHQJLW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1252033164&sr=8-3

I think it's awesome you're planning on getting Bo a kitchen. After all, many of the best chefs in this country are men!

I always found Charlotte's husband (what's his name?) on SATC a cute baldy, and your husband will make a cute one too.

A play kitchen is one of the big items we'll be purchasing for our Trio (2 boys, 1 girl) - plus a gender neutral dollhouse & a train table. I think it's important to not get caught up in those gender stereotypes. Plus, my FIL and BIL are both chefs!! And they are both very manly-man guys!!

As for the bald look... I think it usually looks pretty good. I prefer it over the trying to pretend you are not going bald and trying to cover it up look. Just embrace it already!! :)

I do find some bald men attractive (not all of them though).

And, yeah, I think Mike could carry off the bald look. He looks like he has a nicely shaped head (and that is my criteria for carrying off the look).

BTW, get Bo the kitchen. My boys have all had toy kitchens. In fact, at one point, the older boys had a toy tea cart. Half the time it was a tea cart and half the time it was a battering ram.

Definitely go for the kitchen. It will be a great investment for all of your kids. The play kitchen and play food get played with CONSTANTLY at our house. Great toys to help them use their imaginations!

I think bald heads look way better than trying to hang on to a teeny tiny bit of hair on top and having that ring around the head. I think Mike has way too much hair to go bald right now though.

1. The kitchen would be a great idea. All three of mine play with it now. E even likes using a vacuum. Doesn't make him less of a boy.
2. I also like looking at Tom ;)
3. My hubby shaves his head, because he hasn't had hair since he was about 22.
