Do whatever works. Our trio all slept in swings, co-slept, bouncies, swaddled here and there to around 6 months. When you are outnumbered, you do what works. We had a swing on each side of the bed for The Pipsqueaks - it was awesome for all of us!! It all falls into place eventually. These first few months are all about survival!! :) I can tell you we had very little trouble transitioning to cribs. We tried all sorts of things... and in the end it came down to them being ready. Enjoy this time - it passes quickly - soon they will be mobile!!!

Sounds like you are doing a great job!!

I found after the first one I wasn't quite as 'strict' with the rules... you get to know what works and doesn't and it's all about self preservation!

The first major milestone for us with the twins was sleeping through the night (4 months bless their little hearts!)... Then it got a bit easier. With our crew it seems that 4yrs has been the magic number for us as far as life getting easier! :) (Hope yours starts A LOT sooner! :) )

Happy 6wk Birthday girls.

My boys are 7mths & I have not yet put them in their cots for nap time. During the day, they play on the floor & usually fall asleep there. I did try a cot nap yesterday, but it ended in tears.

Re overnight: my boys have only started to sleep through since about 6mths.

Don't second guess yourself. You are doing a fantastic job.

Don't be too anxious about them sleeping in the carseats, swings or bouncers. We have the Graco swing frame that the carseat fits into... and it has been a life saver! About 2 months I finally let them sleep in their carseats in the crib and they did wonderfully! They have been sleeping in their cribs now for about 2 months. Usually, Mary ends up in it by nights end, but they are both doing well... and I'm getting sleep. It hasn't seemed too bad to "wean" them from it. They will still nap in their rocker/bouncy seats on occasion as well. But, they also nap in their cribs. Depends on the day and if I want to try to move a sleeping baby. I've also found them asleep under their floor gym. It all works! And yes, it does get easier! :) On their 3 month birthday, they both slept 8 hours straight.

1. We didn't move the kids to their cribs for napping until closer to 3/4 months. We had a very fussy baby that if he was sleeping we left him be - no matter where it was.

2. Night time - There were nights that someone would end up in the swing or bouncer and I would just sleep near them - they need to sleep, as does mom. Don't beat yourself up, you are simply trying to survive.

3. Maybe some day someone will invent a way for each of us to have extra arms to help out. It would be ideal.

I work from home as well and it was so tough when my daughter was born (and there was only 1 of her!) I completely understand how you feel about the crying when you're trying to work. Nap time is when I do most of my work but if Lucy doesn't sleep I can't just let her scream in her crib. I don't get any work done anyway so what's the point? She's almost 18 months old now so it's a lot easier and I can actually get work done but those first several months were tough. Hope it gets easier for you soon!

I started watching SB when LG was 6 weeks old. This post is pretty much exactly how I felt off and on. It does get easier though as you know.

When you are working maybe you can wear earplugs or use an ipod. Since you are in the same house Katie can always come get you if she needs to. It is so hard to hear your own baby cry and not be the one trying to comfort him/her.
